Hark hark, the Scottie dogs do bark

Come on dudes - time to wake up!
We are all waiting ...
At long last we arrived on Fish Hoek beach for the Scottie Walk. This time last year the Food Lady was hobbling around on a broken foot and this year it is Mac and Kenzie's mom's turn.
But no time for commiserating and admiring Mac's beautiful red bow tie - or Estea in her cricket whites -
we were all most anxious to get walking.
There were puppies (eeeuw), like this one called Bonnie,
and lots and lots of crazy Scotties - this is Emma -
as well as other dogs that Lad and Harvey were keen to get to know better even if the sentiments were not returned.
One of the humans was even wearing a kilt.
I was wearing my bandana from Renate - Hamish and Findlay's mom,
as were several others. (This photo from Jenny-Lynne Brown Mynhardt.)
The highlight of the walks are the treats that get handed out!
Lad and one of his many loves, Lily.
but watch out Lad, these are just three of Lily's big brothers and sisters.
The Food Lady with me - I am not sure why I was on the lead but maybe the Food Lady thought I would wander off and get lost again. Sometimes I just can't help it. My nose just leads me astray. (Photo by Jenny-Lynne Brown Mynhardt from the Scotties Cape Town Facebook page.)
Then we bumped into Storm who we used to walk with at Wynberg Boys High School,
and her sister Sandy. It was good to say hello to them again.
All too soon we were at the end of the walk. Waiting to say goodbye and to collect donations for the charity of the walk, Tin Can Town, were Angus and Baillie with their humans, Melanie and Le Roux,
and my friend, old Mac who had a sore foot today as he has a torn toenail and had to have it in a plastic bag to keep it dry. Like me, he enjoys his snacks.
Angus and Baillie with Melanie and Le Roux, Snippie with Irene and Mac with Pam.
We then went to see Omie Domes and discovered that Maddie had been quite badly bitten in the stomach by the next door dog and had just come back from the hospital with a fancy pink bandage on. Tomorrow she needs to go for an operation so we are all sending her lots of doggy support vibes.
I spent the rest of the morning shouting rude names at the next door dog on Maddie's behalf.

Blowin' in the wind

Today was a Scottie Walk. I love Scottie Walks because I always get treats from kind people, unlike the mean Food Lady and Alph who have plans to starve me to death. We met a new Scottie today called Skye - and her Yorkie friend Mika.
And heloooo to my buddy Mac. We gave Mac a birthday gift because he has just turned 15. The Food Lady had a packet of goodies for him. So I must now wait another four and a half years before I get a packet of treats. Not fair!
Young Mac was there and was really happy to see the Lad. He was quite submissive to the crazy Lad who was flattered, and a bit flustered, that anyone took him seriously. (Two dogs take him seriously - Jango the Bulldog from Fish Hoek and Mac).
The beach was really windy - with kite surfers having a great day sweeping up and down in the surf.
But even though it was windy, our tails are up - but not Mac's. Follow me Mac, and we will find a kind person with treats for us.
The Scottie invasion of Dolphin Beach.
Laddie was very smitten with Milo and would not leave her alone.
And here come the rainbow Scotties,
who have all the colours of the Scottie spectrum covered - from wheaten (the crazy pup Lily) through gold and silver brindle, to black.
Very handsome dudes indeed. Pity I am not years younger! But now I am not interested in boys, just food.
We all attracted a lot of attention and one lady (in the pink jersey) took a photo of us for a photo competition in Australia. Sadly she had no treats for us.
But could there be a treat in that packet for me?
Estea and Irene were not here today, so Melanie was the Boss Lady. Here are her two crazies - Angus and Baillie - running in the wind.
We turned around after a while.
I must say I preferred the walk back with the wind behind me. Not so much sand in my eyes.
"I have a little shadow ..." Falling in behind old Mac.
Laddie was still annoying poor Milo,
and Melanie trying to tire out her two Scots,
while the oldies just looked on. This handsome fellow, Jock, is also fifteen years old.
Seeing triple.
Then we made it up the beach to the cars with the wind swirling and buffeting. Now please can I have my lunch oh Food Lady.

The wig, wig, wiggle, wiggle, waggle o' the kilt

A Scottie Walk you say? Now?
Did I hear you say "Scottie Walk"? Better get up then.
We are all waiting ...
We walked through the Green Point Urban Park towards the lighthouse where we normally meet Gordon and David and Luna,
past some large footprints that smelled like Rock Monsters who had escaped from the mountain during the night and came down to the sea.
Then we came across Mac and Abigail in their special doggy pushchairs,
with Irene and Snippie and Pam,
and Estea with a toy Scottie called Fergus who is travelling the world.
Laddie found a friend who rather fancied him for a change. Yuk! Soppy dogs.
It was a lovely day and we wiggled and waggled our kilts along the promenade while para-gliders fell from the sky.
Lots of peeps were in the sea but every beach we came to said "NO DOGS ALLOWED!" I was sad as I just love to dip my hot tummy into the cold cold sea.
There was lots happening as we walked past,
and lots of new puppies to meet. This is Scott the puppy, with Dougal and his Jack Russell brother called Luigi (I think).
Jock at the foot of the Pink Poodle/Piddle bench.
And is this another puppy? No, its just Fergus. (Read all about this Scotty toy with itchy feet here.)
We also met Tessa who is Haggis's new sister.
And Harvey found a friend too. They played and chased and ran crazily for a few minutes,
then Harvey came back to the Scotty Walk for more attention. What a crazy dog he is.
Can we have a piddle on the Pink Poodle/Piddle bench pleeeez. Harvey is asking.
But, like most fun things, the answer was NO!. But we had a lovely walk even though we were hot and tired when we went home to find the Alph had returned from his ride, also hot but not too tired.
