Kisses for Mother Christmas

On Sunday we had our Christmas Scottie walk in the Jack Muller Park in Bellville. It was quite hot. Laddie was very happy to see Maggie May (exiting stage right) but since she bit my nose, I don't share Lad and the Food Lady's affection for her. I prefer her wonderfully handsome brother, Kirby (stage centre).
As you can see, it was hot and dry.
Poor Blair had to contend with the heat and Laddie's rather embarrassing interest in her! Oh goodness Laddie - can't you be a tad more discreet?
Luckily he and Maggie May had to veer off into the bush to hunt imaginary rodents, which took his mind off Blair. But then he'd remember and tear off to be with her again.
We had a Christmas picnic and Mother Christmas came round with dog popcorn and a gift for all the Scotties. Here is Lad getting his popcorn.
Some of the puppies were so happy and full of love and thankfulness that they had to kiss Mother Christmas' beard. Such show-offs. They didn't realize that it was Estea dressed up. And if you look in the distance, you can see Kirby with his nose in Mother Christmas' sack. What a clever boy.

And another beard-kisser - little Mac. I must say, he is full of fun - just as long as he doesn't come and live with me.
Lad's gift - biscuits and a dog "aquatoy". I thought we should give it to Kirby but he said he prefers stinky-sticks to chase and retrieve - he would shred this poodle-toy in seconds.
And my present was a packet of delicious dog biltong. The Food Lady confiscated it immediately and only let me have a small taste. But hope to have more during the course of the week.
And here are Bailey and Angus with their humans Le Roux and Melanie with all the goodies we collected at the Scottie Walk for the pet rescue centre, Fallen Angels.

Two Scottie Walks

Firstly, the Food Lady says apologies for no blogging for the last two months. This is catch up now. We had two Scottie Walks in the Jack Muller Park with the Food Lady hobbling on her broken foot. Here is Junette with Maggie-May and Kirby. I don't trust Maggie May ever since she bit my nose. But Kirby is ok.
Some new developments in the park.
Jeremy walking off with Maggie May and the mad Lad
while Kirby tried to get a stick out of Junette's hand.
The terrible twins.
There were lots of new puppies too - eeeuw.
Not my scene - high-fiving pups. Laddie taking an interest.
I am not amused.
And neither is old Mac.
Some of the humans found a Common Fiscal that was caught up in some plastic netting and Junette and Maggie set it free.
We also got to meet Deirdre who is a famous Scottie rescue lady from Facebook.
Kirby's gnashers.

The Alph and me.
The Food Lady just loves to photograph ants for iSpot,
as well as these April Fool flowers - Haemanthus coccineus -
and some late March Lilies - Amaryllis belladonna.
This little pup's name is Bella. And she is a donna.
Picnic time.
Cheerio Mac - till next time.

Snappy and happy Scotties

On a blustery Sunday morning we had another Scottie Walk in Bellville, where we met Stoffel's new little sister, Bibi. The Food Lady was quite smitten.
Some of the Scotties weren't too happy to see us. Especially Duncan.
And here is Laddie pulling a tongue at him. NOT very gentlemanly behaviour.
Off we went - all on leads as there was a rumour about snakes ... but the Food Lady is not phased by snakes, she is more scared of the park guard,
and it clearly states that dogs must be on leads.
Decorous Scotties, mostly behaving well.
Some were eager to get off the lead,
but generally they were good.
The best thing about the Scottie walks is the treats we get.
Yummmmm - thanks Michele.
Even Laddie got some.
And some more. Lucky lad. Sometimes it pays to be blonde!
Everyone was eating yummy things.
What about me?
Stoffel and Bibi were creating quite a stir as they are very cute. As long as we don't have them at home I am fine with them.
Stoffel is very free with his kisses.
Two more normal, standoffish Scotties.
Although it was a bit blustery, it wasn't nearly as windy as it was at home. It was quite hot though.
What you got in there Oh Alph?
Peeping round - a bit unsure of all the bad tempered old Scots.
Poor Mac was quite unnerved by all the snapping and snarling and wanted to go home.
We did one more lap round the park,
past a scented March lily coming up in the grass,
and a prickly hedge of num-nums (Carissa bispinosa),
then we drove back into the roaring southeaster.
